2011 Chrysler 200

Chrysler announced that its all-new midsize sedan will be called the 200. Chrysler has ended the long run of its Sebring sedan after the last generation was met with a lackluster reception by the press and, more importantly, the buying public.

Dodge Grand Caravan

The Dodge Grand Caravan is part of the original family of minivans. Originated as a concept at Ford, the minivan was rejected by that automaker and found a home at Chrysler. Under Lee Iacocca's leadership, the company introduced the first Dodge Caravan and Plymouth Voyager in the 1984 model year, and the resulting success ensured Chrysler would move out of the K-car era and on to minivan leadership.

The Jeep Patriot seems to have found its groove lately, with sales surging 57 percent in August, enough to push its year-to-date sales results to a 3 percent gain as compared to the first eight months of 2009. And although it's not scheduled to hit dealerships until the fourth quarter of 2010, the 2011 Jeep Patriot has now been revealed (photographically speaking) and looks ready to build on its current momentum.

That is not a typo. Today, Chrysler introduced us to the 2011 Chrysler 200 – a front wheel drive, mid-sized sedan that will be built locally at the Sterling Heights Assembly Plant. Considering the build location, I would expect that the 2011 Chrysler 200 will share a platform with the Chrysler Sebring and Dodge Avenger; both of which are built in Sterling Heights.

The new car will be called the 200, linking it with the successful (and also due for an imminent update) 300. This doesn’t surprise us. The Dodge Nitro is a compact SUV from the Dodge division of Chrysler. Launched for the 2007 model year at the 2006 Chicago Auto Show, the Nitro shares its platform with the second generation Jeep Liberty. It is assembled at the Toledo North Assembly Plant in Toledo, Ohio. The Jeep facility is part of an automobile complex which includes the Toledo South Assembly Plant, home to the Jeep Wrangler since the 1940s.
